"The Music Man" is coming to Newark and Red Bank this spring, in a collaboration between the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Two River Theater, with an African-American cast.

NAACP and Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara will direct the concert production of Meredith Willson's musical. Winner of the 1957 Tony Award for Best Musical, the show takes place in River City, Iowa, where Marian the Librarian falls for "trouble with a capital T" in visiting con man Harold Hill. The score includes the songs "Goodnight, My Someone," "Till There Was You," and "Seventy-six Trombones."

In March, six performances will take place at Two River Theater in Red Bank with four at NJPAC as part of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance's Stages Festival.
